Dimensions:
Histories volume is 8" X 11" X 1 1/2"
Comedies Volume is volume is 8" X 11" X 2"
Tragedies Volume is volume is 8" X 11" X 2"
The Steel engravings are dated from 1859-1870.
These are in very good to fine condition, the leather on the tops & bottoms of all 3 volumes have some shelf wear.
In the Histories volume we counted at least 10 full page steel engravings including the first title page
One of the photos we are showing is Mr. Hackett as Falstaff, at the bottom it says "Entered according to an Act of Congress, AD 1859, Johnson, Fry, & Co. in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York"
In the Tragedies volume we counted at least 21 full page steel engravings including the first title page.
The Comedies volume has at least 26 full page steel engravings including the first title page & one of the ones we are showing is a photo of Henry & Thos.Placide as the Two Dromios, at the bottom it says "Entered according to an Act of Congress, AD 1859, Johnson, Fry, & Co. in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York"
These are the nicest Shakespeare Volumes I have ever seen.
All of the engravings depict various American actors of the day.
